• To be eligible to be hired, candidates must meet the following:

    • Have complete at least one year at WSU by May 2027.
    • Are enrolled in at least 6 credits for Spring 2027.
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
    • In good standing with the university (see WAC 504-26-425 4b).
    • Must pass a background check.

     

    Minimum qualifications we look for during interviews:

    • Able to walk outdoors for extended periods during campus tours.
    • Exhibits calm and professional communication when working under pressure.
    • Ready to work respectfully with diverse groups of students, families, faculty, staff, and peers.
    • Confident working independently, in pairs, and as part of a collaborative team environment.
    • Willingness to contribute to a culture of kindness, respect, accountability, and fun.

    Qualities that define a successful Orientation Leader:

    • Active member of WSU campus life or Pullman community; student clubs and organizations, Greek life, RA, intramurals, volunteerism, etc.
    • Experience with public speaking or presenting to large groups.
    • Demonstrated ability to work well with people of many different backgrounds and build collaborative relationships with others.
    • Flexible when navigating challenges that arise during events and ready to adapt and learn from past experiences. 

     

    APPLICATION PROCESS

    1. Before submitting your Handshake Application, make sure your profile is filled out and includes any past or current campus or community involvement. 
    2. Interviews will take place in November.
    3. If hired, all OLs must complete their hiring process, including:
      • Responding to the HRS Background Check request by Jan 8th.
      • Bringing in their I-9 documentation by January 16th. A full list of accepted I-9 documentation can be found here on page 2. All I-9 documents must be original physical documents, not copies.
