As an OL, you’ll work with students and families during New Coug Orientation programs and support the New Student Enrollment team in the office. 

During NCO Programs: 

  • Welcome and assist students and guests with check-in.
  • Build community in small groups and help new students form friendships.
  • Lead engaging campus tours and share your Coug experience.
  • Connect students with resources to support their success.
  • Ensure each guest leaves with confidence about their next steps.

Outside of Program: 

  • Hosting student activities the night before orientation programs.
  • Assisting new students throughout the on-boarding process, including during organized virtual events.
  • Event preparation and organization outside of program days.
  • Administrative tasks such as answering NCO-related emails and calls.

This is a meaningful leadership opportunity for students who want to grow as campus leaders, share their Coug spirit, and make a lasting impact on the WSU community.

 

Additional responsibilities of an OL may include, but are not limited to:
  • Guiding a campus tour
  • Presenting information to a large classroom
  • Answering parent questions on a plethora of topics
  • Facilitating student discussion on hopes and fears of attending college
  • Explaining UCORE (general education) program to new students
  • Singing the fight song with pride (multiple times)
  • Working strenuous, irregular hours
